Originally from Silver Spring, MD, Dr. Shoshana Garfield is the oldest of three siblings and has always enjoyed being close with her family. She appreciates the combination of creativity, hands-on work, and meaningful relationships that dentistry offers. Her approach to care is compassionate and patient-centered, with an emphasis on helping patients feel comfortable and understood.

Dr. Garfield was drawn to dentistry from a young age after watching her grandfather and uncle practice. Their influence introduced her to a career that combined working with people, making a meaningful difference, and using both creativity and practical skills.
Dr. Garfield attended Touro University before earning her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Maryland. During dental school, she provided general dental care and completed a clerkship focused on treating survivors of domestic violence. That experience further shaped her approach to compassionate, patient-focused care. She went on to complete an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency, where she continued developing her clinical skills across a broad range of dental treatment.
Dr. Garfield is a member of the American Dental Association and participates in the Maimonides Study Club. She also plans to attend the Pankey Institute to expand her expertise.

Away from dentistry, Dr. Garfield enjoys playing guitar, traveling, and staying active. She also values spending time with the people she loves. One of her more unusual talents is that she can write backwards!
